Shanti India was created in 2005 with the objective to help those who need it most. In 2009 a tutoring school was created, which offered after-school education in Bihar, one of the poorest and most underdeveloped states in India. In such areas children from humble backgrounds often can't get access to quality education. In 2016 SHANTI INDIA was transformed into full time school and now takes in 300 children from poor families and helps them pursue their dreams. Children and students of SHANTI INDIA are taught ethical codes of conduct based on solidarity, compassion, tolerance and kindness.

For as long as space remains

For as long as sentient beings remain

Until then may I too remain

To dispel the miseries of the world.

Tara, compassion in action…

“When many years ago I was offered this photo of Tara, I was immediately excited: the grace of her smile, her serenity, her gift of gesture and protection… Knowing she was in India, I dreamed that one day I will meet her. Later, while circumambulanting around the stupa of Bodhgaya, I had the joy of recognition. She inspired all that has been achieved.
We are all responsible for the world we live in. Each of us can work to make it more human and I have no doubt that we do so by uniting our good wishes. ”
